Our Mission Statement

Provide opportunities for therapeutic physical skill development and activity in a supervised and attractive facility for individuals with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities. Lessons will be free of charge for a wide array of athletic activities and will be under the supervision of qualified instructors assisted by volunteers from the local community.

Las Campanas Compadres, Inc. (LCC) was founded by Lawrence and Suzanna Becerra in May, 2007. The original idea was to start a program devoted to people with special needs and to elicit the co-operation of Las Campanas in utilizing the club’s world class facilities. The program is made possible through Las Campanas’ generous offer of the use of their beautiful equestrian and swimming facilities, and the enthusiastic response from the Las Campanas community to support the program through the donation of valuable volunteer time.

We initiated our activities with a riding program. We hired a NAHRA (North American Handicap Riders Association) rated instructor, organized a pool of volunteers, and developed a therapeutic program. To date, LCC has 35 students registered in the program and has underwritten over 1000 free riding lessons. We have also started a swimming program. We have hired an accredited swimming instructor and currently have 10 students that participate in the program. To date the program has underwritten over 500 swimming lessons.

The program is made possible through  generous donations and active volunteer participation. LCC has a volunteer pool of over 50 participants. All services to the program are provided pro bono. The foundation is privately funded and all donations are used to pay for instructors and the purchase of equipment.
